Accused Harasser Inquired: 'Yet What If I Am Madeleine?'
A female accused with pursuing Kate McCann reportedly left her a phone message which questioned: "suppose I am Madeleine?"
The defendant, twenty-four, who a jury heard has persistently claimed she was the vanished Madeleine McCann, and her co-defendant are standing trial charged with stalking Kate and Gerry McCann from June 2022 and February the current year.
On Monday, the tribunal was told phone records and data recovered from phones recorded Ms Wandelt persistently demanding Madeleine's mother for a genetic test throughout 2023 and 2024.
Madeleine's disappearance in 2007 - at the age of three during a family holiday in Portugal - is considered the most publicized child disappearance cases and remains unsolved.
'I Don't Want Money'
A separate phone message, played in court, captured Ms Wandelt declaring: "I understand I'm overweight and plain like Madeleine had been, but I believe what I believe."
While a separate message of Ms Wandelt's recordings with Mrs McCann's recording stated: "What if there is a slight possibility that I'm her? What happens next? Wouldn't that be crucial for you?"
"I do not need money, I maintain a living here in Poland, I only wish to discover," she added.
The tribunal was told that via electronic messages, text messages and phone calls, Ms Wandelt demanded a DNA test, forwarded youth pictures to her phone in a attempt to demonstrate a similarity to Mrs McCann's disappeared daughter, and stated to have "memories" from a early life with the McCanns.
Robert Jones, an investigator with law enforcement who gathered the evidence, advised the court there "showed no any replies" from Mrs McCann.
Ms Wandelt additionally contacted close associates of the McCanns, according to the phone records.
On 9 October 2024, the father responded to a communication from Ms Wandelt to his wife's phone, stating she had "a wrong number."
On that occasion Ms Wandelt recorded a message on Mrs McCann's voicemail saying "I will continue and I will prove my claim."
The court heard the co-defendant developed a connection online with Ms Wandelt prior to joining her on a appearance to the McCanns' home in that area in last December.
