The Blue Jays Earn World Series Matchup Against defending champion Dodgers

George Springer celebrating

George Springer was instrumental for the Houston Astros securing the championship in 2017.

Canada's MLB team reached their maiden championship series following 1993 by overcoming the Seattle Mariners in the final seventh game of the ALCS.

Trailing 3-1, the star outfielder delivered a three-run home run in the seventh inning, guiding the sole Canadian team in MLB to a 4-3 victory in the seven-game series. Awaiting them are the Dodgers, who are the reigning title, in the forthcoming championship.

"It's incredible for our team, Toronto, the nation," Springer stated, a star of the Astros team that won the 2017 World Series. "What an unbelievable moment."

The veteran has now slugged 23 October home runs, making him third all-time trailing only Ramirez (twenty-nine) and Jose Altuve (27).

"I can't think of anyone else anywhere that I want up in that situation except for George Springer with his playoff prowess," said manager John Schneider.

Seattle, who had led the early in the series, continue to be the sole team never to appear in a World Series.

Manager Dan Wilson commented "there's no question that it hurts" after his club's elimination at their home ballpark, but commended their performance in the campaign.

"It's a special team. Unfortunately that we had to come out on the losing end of this game," he added.

Toronto's team secured the title on both previous visits in 1992 and 1993, and are set to host the Dodgers in game one on this Friday.
