The former president's Granddaughter Receives Expert Guidance from Golf Legend Woods Prior to LPGA First Appearance

Emerging athlete preparing for major tournament

The rising star has considerable social media following

Kai Trump can count on multiple well-known cheerleaders when she begins her LPGA debut later this week.

The 18-year-old athlete, who is the granddaughter of a former US president, obtained a tournament invitation to participate at the Annika competition in Florida.

Her grandfather, a passionate golfer, operates several courses worldwide and often competes against his granddaughter.

"He's pretty good. I shouldn't elaborate but we play some close matches," she revealed.

Kai explained that Trump, who cannot attend, counseled her: "Simply avoid anxiety."

"My grandpa essentially told me to compete and relax," she added.

"From my perspective, he's just an ordinary family member. He's not attending for the tournament. He's focused on presidential duties, so he's rather occupied."

While still amateur, the golfer has played in only three events in 2024 and holds the 461st position in AJGA listings.

Yet she's able to seek guidance from 15-time major champion, who is dating Kai's mother.

"He stands as the best player globally," the young golfer said.

"Additionally, he's an even better individual. He advised me to compete, enjoy myself, following whatever happens."

She'll challenge some of the biggest names in the sport at the competition, such as second-ranked Nelly Korda, England's Charley Hull, Lexi Thompson and 2023 champion Lilia Vu.

Tournament organizers mentioned that involving Kai brings golf to new audiences, particularly among youth audiences.

The young star has substantial online presence and has started a personal clothing and lifestyle brand.

The competition starts at late afternoon GMT.
