Trump Business Attempted to Bring In Almost 200 Employees on Visas in 2025

The former president’s family business increased its hiring of overseas employees on temporary visas this year, while his government was creating barriers for other businesses wanting to do the same, a report released Thursday claimed.

Based on information from the US Department of Labor, the business sought to hire at least 184 foreign workers in the coming year for temporary positions at the former president’s Mar-a-Lago resort, golf facilities and his winery in Virginia.

The number of requests for temporary work visas for workers including servers, clerks, cleaning staff, kitchen staff and agricultural laborers was the highest ever filed by the company, and increased from over 120 in 2021, when Trump’s first term ended.

It was also the fifth instance in 10 years that the former president had sought to bring in more than 100 overseas workers for temporary positions at Mar-a-Lago, based on available data.

The revelation coincides with a tightening on immigration laws by his administration that has involved the implementation of a substantial charge on H1-B visas; increased review of the actions of the millions of people who possess US visas; and restrictive new rules for foreign students and reporters.

In total, the business aimed to hire 566 foreign laborers over the period Trump has been in the presidency, from his first term and during 2025.

Significantly, Trump was criticized by certain in the Republican party this period for remarks defending the necessity for foreign workers when a company was unable to find people with “specific talents” to occupy certain positions.

“You can’t just say a nation is coming in, going to invest $10bn to build a plant, and going to recruit individuals off an jobless roster who have been unemployed in years, and they’re going to start making their missiles. It isn’t feasible that well,” he told a host after she suggested that foreign workers undercut the wages of American employees.

The administration refused a request for response, and the Trump Organization did not immediately respond to an request for information.
